This blogging stuff is hard! I guess I am just not as technologically advanced as some people because I am having a hell of a time figuring everything out. Oh well, I suppose I will have it mastered eventually, um 2010 maybe? I guess the way my blog looks isn’t quite as important as how it reads.
Which brings me to my next problem. I have been reading other peoples blogs for almost 2 years now. I always marveled at how they were able to capture such a large audience by merely writing about their life. Some blogs are so witty and well written that whatever it is they are writing about seems fascinating. I feel very small in comparison and that feeling has been the one that has made me rethink starting a blog over and over again.
All my life I have had this notion that if I can’t be the best or at least one OF the best, why even bother? I really need to get over that and just dive in, regardless of if I’m any good or not. You never know unless you give it a shot..right? So that is what I am doing now, I’m giving it a shot. I am going to do this blogging thing and even if I do completely suck, that’s okay, at least I am putting forth the effort.
I have laid in bed at night and thought about all the different topics I could write about if I had a blog but I never really had any intention of starting one. So now that I have indeed started my own blog I have alot of unexplored ideas floating around in my head. I think my next challenge is going to be dedicating myself to writing no matter how bad, uninteresting or silly it may seem to me. Practice makes perfect.

You know I’ve actually turned down a few opportunities to increase my readership. I kind of like having a group of readers I know, and can communicate with them through my blog and theirs (the commenters all have their own for the most part). Obviously many more people visit than comment, and I really wish they would though because I am so curious about them! Anyway my big advice if you want to grow your blog, though, is to read and comment on a lot of the less well-known blogs, people who have stuff in common with you.

I like wordpress alot better than some of the other blogging sites so it was an easy choice. I am getting the hang of it slowly. I can’t quite get my avatar to work but that’s no big deal. Thanks for the advice! I agree that it would seem weird to have a bunch of people reading but not commenting. I lurk on alot of other peoples blogs so I guess I’m a little creepy too. I suppose I’ll have to remedy that.

i think this post echoes what many bloggers must have felt when they started their blog. but you’ll be surprised by how fulfilling blogging can be even if you do expect it to be. meanwhile, just keep blogging and don’t lose the passion.
