I have noticed lately that more and more babies are sporting baby mohawks. I think that they look really adorable and I will even admit that I have given some thought to cutting River’s hair is such a style. Ultimately, I decided against it for a couple different reasons.
The first reason is that it seems like the “cool” thing to do and I would feel like such a poser if I cut River’s hair like that at this point. It would have been a totally different story at the start of the baby mohawk trend, way back when Angelina Jolie had her son Maddox’s hair like that, but unfortunately River wasn’t even a glimmer in my eye then. I hate nothing more than busting in on the very end of a passing fad, which the baby mohawk most certainly is.
The second reason that I didn’t give River a mohawk is because I am all about versatility and the baby mohawk is a one trick wonder. When you have a mohawk that is all you have and nothing else. I suppose you could comb the stripe of hair down and make your baby look like a greaser or even part it like the red sea, but I don’t think either of those options are very cute for a baby.
Instead River gets a haircut once a month and I can style his hair in all sorts of ways.
Exhibit A: The messy hair
Exhibit B: He can even wear a faux-hawk if he really wants to

Exhibit C: His hair usually ends up resembling nothing other than a monk:

I think he’s pretty cute regardless of how he wears his hair.

AWWW. What a cutie patootie.
He seems like an agreeable little boy.
My baby just got enough hair for me to (totally unnecessarily) comb it after a bath, so hairstyles are not yet an issue.
I tend to avoid trends (if I even know what they are).
But if you want to go the baby punk rock route without the hair, go here:

River may be cute, but he is not usually very agreeable. He is already very headstrong and everything is a battle. Sigh. I’m in trouble.
Hey – thanks for the comment on my blog
I think he looks gorgeous enough without a mohawk. There is always gel if you think a “fin” might be good
My baby is a baldy still…
Uh oh. Well mine just discovered temper tantrums. Cute but difficult!
I like River’s hair no matter how he is wearing it. That is neat, you can do different things with it.
Thanks for your comment on my blog, and I’ll keep checking in with your brand new blog.
