Now, he's socially retarded. Seriously. He is behind on his little social skills. He is one child around immediately family & others. but, random, new people---including children---he freaks out. So....think of it that way! You are fostering independence in your child & allowing him to develop his own social skills. :) or, you could be in my boat. my son is two, and hardly interacts with other children b/c I was so worried about everything you mentioned.
